Greetings! This Sunday is the baptism of our Lord, This week we end the Christmas Season with the second Epiphany of the Lord, His Baptism in the Jordan by John the Baptist. The Baptism of the Lord is an epiphany because it is a demonstration to the world that this Jesus is the Son of the God. Some spiritual writers say that whereas the water John used made others holy, Jesus made the water holy. In a similar way some spiritual writers add that through the holiness of his humanity, our humanity was also made holy.
Next week I will be at the January Workshop with the rest of the Priest from our Diocese, so there will be NO DAILY MASS NEXT WEEK. The theme of the workshop is THE CORPORATE RE-ORGANIZATION OF THE DIOCESE and will also conduct a Priest’s Council meeting, in addition diocesan matters will be reported and discussed.
The 2016 calendars as well as the new “Word Among Us,” is available at the front of the church. Your “Collection Envelops,” are also available at the entrance of the church, please utilize them.
I just want to thank Irene and Joan for the hard work that they do doing the Sunday Bulletin. Just a reminder the Sunday Bulletin is an informational matter within the Parish community, as well as what is going on in the Santa Rosa Diocese. It is not a newspaper or gossip column. If anyone wants to volunteer to do the Sunday Bulletin so Irene can have a break from it, it will be greatly appreciated.
Congratulation for the new guild officers for the year 2016! They are Jean Koutz, treasurer, Denise Britton, vice president and Francine Korn, president.
Peace and Blessings!

Jan. 10th: Baptism of the Lord
“The voice of the Father thundered: This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased”.
These powerful words reveal Jesus to us as Son of God, and they echo the words of St. John the Baptist, “I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God…I have baptized you with water, he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire..” Since Jesus is God, and not in need of baptism. He was setting an example for us! Not only does baptism make us children of God, but Jesus promises to give us the Holy Spirit! Do we really believe this? If so, let us open our hearts to the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives!!
